CCAST Advanced Research Computing Training Program, Fall 2024

The NDSU Center for Computationally Assisted Science and Technology (CCAST) is offering a FREE training program to introduce faculty, staff, and students at all NDUS institutions and Tribal colleges/universities in North Dakota to high-performance computing (HPC).
This program provides researchers with the basic knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to utilize HPC resources available at NDSU and elsewhere. Please attend and encourage your students/group members to attend the training (either remote via Zoom or in person) whether you are a current ND-ACES participant or not.
For Fall 2024, we will be offering two workshops (Click HERE to register):
Workshop 1: Introduction to High-Performance Computing (HPC), Friday, Nov. 8, 2:30–4:00 PM.
Workshop 2: HPC Job Submission and Troubleshooting, Friday, Nov. 15, 2:30–4:00 PM.
Workshops will be offered in-person in AG HILL 240 at NDSU and via Zoom and will cover the following topics:
Introduction to HPC
Anatomy of a supercomputer
Logging into CCAST HPC clusters
Interacting with a text-based terminal
Basic Linux/UNIX commands
Finding available scientific software
Submitting jobs to run on HPC clusters
Monitoring and troubleshooting HPC jobs
Getting help
In person attendance is highly recommended, but for those who cannot attend in-person, Zoom links and recordings will be made available.
