Ethnomathematical Practices of the Tharu Community in Nepal.

Abstract: This research explores the ethnomathematical practices of the indigenous Tharu community of Nepal through the lived experiences of informants. The necessary information was collected through interviews with selected Tharu people and through observations of their cultural practices in daily life. The article describes some of the skills and processes of counting system, measuring techniques and modeling shapes commonly used in Tharu cultural practices which support the preservation of their cultural identity.
