This study expands ongoing mosquito surveillance in North Dakota, with a primary focus on Sioux County and the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The goal is to provide baseline data on mosquito species composition, seasonal activity, and population dynamics across diverse ecosystems. Such information is critical for understanding potential disease transmission risks and guiding vector control strategies. While many counties in North Dakota have a long history of mosquito monitoring, participation by tribal lands is relatively recent, making this project an important step toward building a more comprehensive statewide profile. From June to mid-August 2025, mosquitoes were collected using traps and identified to species level. The most commonly observed species included Aedes vexans, Aedes triseriatus, and Culex tarsalis. Species distribution varied by trap location, underscoring the importance of localized surveillance. These findings contribute valuable data to public health efforts and support continued monitoring across North Dakota’s counties and reservations.
