What are your primary research and scholarly interests?
Lyme disease, and bacterial and host factors involved in infectious disease
How does this tie into the work you are doing with ND-ACES?
I am working with a physicist, Nuri Oncel, using atomic force miscroscopy to understand how bacterial cells interact with host proteins.
What excited you about EPSCoR?
Potential to interact with a broad spectrum of researchers in different disciplines
Where are you from and where did you pursue your education?
My family is from Michigan; I grew up in Louisiana. My BS is from Louisiana State University, MS is from University of Vermont, and PhD is from University of Washington.
What motivates you?
Helping promising young people get to the next step. Music.
If you could time travel, where would you go?
The future, because I don't want to mess up the past, and I'm a Star Trek fan.
If you could have coffee / tea with anyone, who would it be?
There are so many interesting historical figures etc, but they say never meet your heroes, so I'll have coffee with my best friend.
