Tie Dye Science (ES)

In this lesson students will test several fabrics to find which works best for tie dying. Students are just beginning to learn about analyzing the data collected in a scientific experiment. With teacher direction and support, students will be able to successfully gather data and analyze it to choose a fabric that will work well for tie dying. Students will then create tie-dyed shirts.

objectives

• Experiment with a variety of fabrics to find the ones best suited for tie dying
• Record observation data collected during the experiment
• Analyze data to determine the best material for a tie dye t-shirt
