In an activity-packed two-week program, thirteen students from three tribal colleges—Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College (NHSC), Sitting Bull College (SBC), and Turtle Mountain College (TMC)—immersed themselves in hands-on science at this year’s NATURE University Summer Camp.

Since 2021, ND-ACES has sponsored the Rural Student Teaching Experience (RSTE) program. The RSTE supports student teachers while they complete a one-semester internship in rural North Dakota schools, primarily in STEM classrooms. The program offers participants mentorship from experienced educators and provides them with a stipend to cover their living expenses while they are away from their home campus.
